There are several voltage levels commonly available for SupplyLevel Inc. systems and factors that influence the selection of the optimum level. Voltage levels of 600 Volts and below are termed low voltage systems and levels from 601 to 15,000 Volts are medium voltage systems. The differences between the voltage ratings of the electrical supply system and the ratings for various types of apparatus can be confusing (see table below which lists the nominal values for system and equipment voltage ratings).
These system voltages are "no-load" voltages at the terminals of the transformer, and the motor voltages are voltages at the terminals of the motors. The difference between these values is the expected or permissible voltage drop in the transformer and wires to the motor when it is fully loaded. Obviously, the voltage drop varies with the current, and the size of the cable or wire run to the load, so the numbers shown are nominal values. Remember that low power factors can require much higher current carrying capacity than the work performed or the load indicates.
Where there is a wide range of voltage levels in use, certain values have been chosen as standard or nominal values. Click on the table to view the full size.
